Warm-up:  SThesis statements must include the author’s purpose and what strategies or ideas they use to accomplish this purpose.

SOrganization could be done various ways.  Some suggestions include by strategy, by purpose or by chronology. 

SWrite a sample thesis statement for an essay about how JFK uses rhetorical strategies to accomplish his purpose.

Classwork:  Discussion of thesis statements and organization of analytical essays; Compose an essay that analyzes how JFK uses rhetorical strategies to accomplish his purpose in his inaugural address


Homework:  Bring in at least 2 full page advertisements from magazines (share magazines with friends if your family has many), PSAT registration is due!
