Warm-up:  SSelect the best way for phrasing the underlined material.
S1. Laura Ingalls Wilder published her first book and she was sixty-five years old then.
Sa) and she was sixty-five years old then.

Sd) upon the reaching of sixty-five years.
Se) at the time when she was sixty-five.

Classwork:  style and grammar station work, PSAT prep, read LOC pg 87&88

Homework:  Due tomorrow:  1.  Commonly Confused Words – highlight every one of the words used in your rough draft – review its usage and revise if necessary.
2.  Syntax Analysis Sheet – choose one body paragraph (must be at least 8 sentences, if it is not, do 2 body paragraphs) and complete the syntax chart thoroughly.  Make any changes you can to add variety and sophistication.
3.  Sentence Structure – Label each sentence in your draft as simple, compound, complex, or compound-complex.  If it is a fragment or run-on, fix it.
4.  Sentence Structure Part 2 – Use your Art of Styling Sentences book to revise some of your sentences.  You must have at least one Pattern 16, one Pattern 7, and one Pattern 3.  In your final draft, you will highlight or underline this sentence and label the pattern.
5.  1st and 2nd person – Highlight every you, your, me, I, our, and we in your rough draft.  Rewrite the sentence to eliminate 1st and 2nd person.  Your paper should be written entirely in 3rd person.
