Independent Book Assignment
You must select and obtain one of the following books by March 29th. You may not read the same book that you read during 2nd quarter. You can purchase these books at a bookstore, borrow them from a library, or borrow them from a friend. Since the list contains many of the same books from last time, there are many students with copies to share.
1. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
2. Being a Black Man: At the Corner of Progress and Peril, by the staff of the Washington Post (Kevin Merida, ed.)
3. The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore
4. The Winter of Our Disconnect by Susan Maushart
5. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
6. Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich
7. The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
You will be expected to read the first 3rd of the book by the end of spring break, 4/10. Books make great travelling companions, and none of you should EVER go 10 days without reading. Details about assignments and assessments related to your reading will be announced soon.
